When fashion meets art...

Hi, kids. Happy Friday. I went to Scope yesterday which was pretty awesome.
Digging on Lee Kyung Ho's work- he photographs bags flying through the air a
la American Beauty. Lovely. Oh and Jason Bryant's piece with Bogie and
Bacall and the bitmapped faces? I can't...

Anyhow, I guess my love for art and fashion make sense, as the two are
nowhere near mutually exclusive. In fact, they're lovers for the ages. One
can't really exist without the other- both are barometers for the times in
which we live, both suffer due to economic hardship, and both are all about
expressing oneself. And art and fashion have always depended on each other-
the fashion world loves art (think Marc Jacobs and his collaborations with
Stephen Sprouse, Murakami, and Richard Prince) and the art world loves
fashion (have you seen the outfits at the fairs? Incredibleness).

This is why this Sid Vicious towel by Elizabeth Peyton needs to be mine,
because even before you get dressed in some fabulous creation, you need to
rock some serious fashion, or at least I do, anyway. I adore Elizabeth
Peyton- her work is super pop culture inspired and she's a darling of the
fashion set who love her figurative pieces of the beautiful people. And a
towel with Mr. Vish on it? Yes, please.

The artist/towel collab has been going down for a few years now, thanks to
the Art Production Fund and the fabulous Yvonne Force, who herself is a
major leagues fashion plate. It started at Basel and this particular terry
number is being sold at Opening Ceremony, for $95 (link below). A small
price to pay for a Peyton is all I'm saying...you should hit that. Now's
good.

Cause that's what's up this accessible art filled Friday in the MIA. I am
excited for the weekend and can't wait to see more inspiring things and
beautiful people. XO
