Good morning, Wednesday. Prayers go out to all of the wonderful people of Boston and to the families of the victims of the great tragedy there. I was home sick yesterday and was so moved and overwhelmed by the spirit of Bostonians- it's beyond horrible that something like this must happen to present us with all the good humans in the world- but wow- what an incredibly strong town- I do believe whoever is responsible messed with the wrong city.
So as I was home sick yesterday, I picked up my prescription at my local pharmacy and happened to pop into Goose Barnacle, an amazing men's store on Atlantic Avenue and Hicks near my home. A bag in the window caught my eye- a woven and happily striped number that turns out to be crafted by none other than Steve Mono, whose amazing bags for men have been in my style trajectory for a while now. As I was hunting for a men's bag for David a few seasons ago, I did a fairly exhaustive search of all of the best out there, and Steve's bags top the list. He works often in leather but I adore this incred tote handmade in Barcelona, according to the owner of the shop. I can so picture this bag for summer picnics, weekend road trips, and farmer's market jaunts on warm days. Nothing better than a good tote, and you already know how I feel about LL Bean totes for summer, so there....
And then it dawned on me that this bag was not just for the boys, but girls like me who want something low key and cool with a whiff of utility to carry around the city. I am a big fan of men's bags for girls- another standout is Jack Spade's fabulous Cordura dipped camo bag; a bag I'd be proud to wear (and share) with my hubs. Which brings me to an excellent and less expensive resource for such things- your local army navy store. I love those places (have loved them since a kid in the days of I. Goldberg in Philly) and find myself fascinated by military gear- from army jackets to helmet bags from the Belgian army, I can't get enough. This one caught my eye, and for $39.95, you can't beat the price.
And now I must leave you since this sinus infection is kicking my behind and need to chill...whatever you're carrying today, may it help get you through your afternoon- cause that's what's up this totally toted Wednesday in the 212. XO
