Hiya, Monday...lovely weekend spent senior prom gazing at my niece's house. Such a beautiful girl- very proud to have shared that moment with her. And since it was such a lovely weekend, last night found me back home in Brooklyn entrenched on my sofa, watching a previously taped edition of this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame festivities. It's amazing to me there are still people left to induct, but that's not here nor there. Because last night I became a fan of a band I previously had very little interest in, and that band is Heart, who broke barriers and tore down walls and got inducted into those hallowed proverbial halls this year.
Now, now. I know "Magic Man" is fairly genius as is "Barracuda" and "Crazy on You" is both terrifying in its shriek of female passion and amazingly well crafted all at once (and you keep me alive with your sweet flowing love...). Sure these chicks rock and we all know it- it's just their music never spoke to me. And it still doesn't to be honest but here's what does- their transcendently amazing style back in the 70s. Oh. Yes.
You all are well acquainted with my enduring love for the 70s rockstar aesthetic. Heart were simply at the top of their game in that regard. Though the 80s were a frightening time stylewise (and otherwise) for the sisters Wilson, the 70s were spot the hell on. Let's not talk much about how they look now, because back then, wow. I'm having dinner with my hairdresser and friend tonight and Siobhan- if you are reading this, I'm growing out this cut and channeling some maje Heart hair as shown above and below. It's so good.
Just love beyond belief. The blonde, the brunette, it matters not. I'm loving the bangs and layers so very truly. And though the fashion can skew a bit too Pirates of the Caribbean, for the most part, I'm in. Loving every bit of these gals from back in the day. Rock and roll. It's Monday for crying out loud. I need some inspiration, and it's coming through in the form of two girls from Seattle that live to rawk. Cause that's what's up this magic man of a Monday in the 212. Heart. XO
