Good day, Friday. Wow. New York. NEW YORK. You are gorgeous beyond belief, baby. I'm crushin' on you so hard today. There is something that makes me feel so incredibly grateful about living back in a place where the seasons change- the promise of Spring and it's beautiful bloom does wonders for the mood and makes me realize I'm a lucky girl to live where I live, love who I love, and do what I do.
And something I do better than most is shopping. Yea, it's true. I'm good at it. Very, very good at it (much to the chagrin of the aforementioned man who I love). I've been reading loads on Spring fashion and everyone's all about this new bohemia- think of it less hippie dippie/fest fash and more about a polished and ethnically inclined silhouette that goes beyond peace and love. The way to get the look is to nip and tuck- think of your fav summer hippie dress cinched in with a motorcycle jacket, or your fav sleepy denim shirt with a fitted and printed pencil skirt and some fringed sandals, high or low heeled, your choice. My bet to make this look shine? White, white, white. I love head to toe white in the warm months- and lest you're worried about looking too pure and perf, toughen up the look with black accessories and sexy heels or ethnic pieces like a fringed bag or funky necklace. And I still love a cool rock tee- but do it with a fitted blazer and jean shorts and suddenly it's less Woodstock and more well done. I also think it's cool that with "The Great Gatsby" about to grace us with its cinematic presence, I love the idea of boho not having to be about a 60s or 70s moment, but a 20s kind of Zelda in Paris moment a la the Zara dress below. Bathtub gin, anyone?
And if you're slightly bored with the maxi dress thing, go graphic and try the black and white thing, as shown on the DVF dress below...so good and fresh and perfect for summer nights, even if your'e not about to douse yourself in patchouli and dance to "Sugar Magnolia", though I may.
Oh, and don't worry- I've done the work for ya. Below are links to some of my favs around- enjoy the weekend and the new bohemia and being a hippie, or not being one for that matter. Just be here now because it's a wonderful time to do so. And that's what's up this free spirit of a Friday in the 212. Ah, Spring! XO
