Maven trend watch: Getting down to Earth with marble prints

Good afternoon, Monday.

Last night I went to a very fun BBQ but should know better than to drink some lethal margaritas and then attempt to go home and watch the series finale of "Mad Men". Needless to say, I didn't make it through, and woke up in a bit of a sweat reminiscent of a more
rookie-esque version of myself. I can't hold my booze anymore.

But besides my sad intolerance to alcohol, I wanted to trend spot 'atcha cause I've been noticing a particular print making a big play for our closets this spring/summer season, and that is- the marble print. To me, this print is very in tune with our collective mind and mood- I keep thinking of "the big blue marble" and how all of us (or most of us) are trying harder to take care of our planet, so it's not surprising fashion types would take note.  Last season, we saw a lot of attention towards the starry skies with galaxy prints, but right now, it's all about planet Earth and a marbled point of view.

From Emerson Fry to Balenciaga to the Gap, designers are keeping the world spinning on its stylish axis. I think it's a lovely choice- my favorite is the one below from Emerson Fry- a pretty soft take on the trend. Its popularity also speaks to our obsession with handcrafted, handmade, and artful living.

I would love to see it on sheets or accent pillows for the home- very pretty with chrome finishes and metallics when it comes to marbled home goods.

So there you have it- a marble print is a great way to go green this summer- here's some more great pieces and photos to keep you inspired to take your marble game to the next level.

Love this dress from Zimmerman.

Fabulous from Stella McCartney.

Scarves are pretty in this print too.

Love it in a bathing suit-  this River Island version is no longer available but great.

This Carhartt sweathshirt must be mine for chilly beachside nights. This particular marble tactic makes me crave a good pair of denim with some serious splattery marbled goodness.

Love the batiky vibe of this button down- calling all DIY types. I'm sure you crafty peeps can make one for your own.

So there you have it- keep on keepin' on as the work week has just begun, cause that's what's up this big blue marble of a Monday in the 212. Yours, in swirly whirly earthiness. XO
