Good morning, Thursday. Khan and I are still in bed and after a long walk at 7 am, just about ready to get up and face the day. Feeling good after Clinton's speech last night too- admittedly his voice sounded a bit weak, but his message was just so damn strong. Loved it. Oh, and in case you've been hiding under a rock, it's FASHION WEEK. Spring 2013 is in the air, the tents are up, and fashion is about to have a big night out tonight. I'm not sure I'm going to make it to the festivities, but may attempt to check out the Target pop-up and try to get my mitts on some Kirna Zabete goodness. Wish me luck.
And as luck would have it, the shows are already in full swing and Style.com is posting all of the festivities.
On early trend watch, I'm calling royal blue as an important color for Spring 2013- maybe the Queen's Jubilee and London hosting the Olympics held some influence across the pond with American designers who are fully embracing this regal tone. I'm also seeing some great prints for Spring and an ease that American designers are known for- times are tough, so loosening up and taking it easy is kind of a no brainer type situation.
Early highlights for me are John Patrick's organic pieces- these are clothes I am dying to wear- that black deep v minidress is a piece I would probably wear every day. The relaxed take on suiting is top notch, as are the decidedly modern silhouettes. I bought a John Patrick tank dress this Summer and it feels like heaven on the body. Very keen on this designer and his chic take on simplicity. He epitomizes an effortless American approach to dress that is unfussy and so very cool. I'm a huge fan.
I'm going to have to do separate posts until I figure out how to get off of Posterous, the photo uploads are killing me with their sloth like slowness. I've got loads to show you from the first few shows, so please stay tuned.
And that's what's up this Spring has sprung in New York (sorta) kind of Thursday in the 212. All the love and XO.
