Five for Friday: I find, you shop for Fall fashion

Hey, pals and happy Friday. I am so so so happy Mercury is out of that wretched retrograde. Perhaps it's some sort of astrological marketing gimmick (have never heard of this until much later in life), but I felt this one in a big, big way. Miscommunication. Mixed messages. Crossed signals. All of that. Bye, retrograde. Buh bye.

So I said I would share some of my top picks for Fall- and I decided to show you some things in stores already that make great pieces for the Fall. I myself am trying desperately not to buy another thing-  have to be good and conservative as I figure out my new lay of the land. But hey, you guys with full time jobs or trust funds or stock ops, go nuts. I'll live vicariously through you.

So without further adieu, five things that caught my eye for Fall:

A boho dress- If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know I have a love/hate with boho. But it's always on my radar and admittedly, I love the winter boho vibes of a feminine dress with black tights and boots and a faux fur vest.  It's edgier than Summer boho so it's always on my list, and with midi length pieces taking the stage, now is the time for a great dress. This brand in Cali is absolutely killing me in the best of ways. Doen has amazing pieces to soothe your boho soul- I love these dresses and it's a hard call, but so many good ones. Also Mes Demoiselles from France is unbelievably cool. I love taking a traditionally Summer piece and reworking it for Fall and Winter. You should too methinks.

A turned around cardigan- Was just shopping with a friend in Soho (she was shopping) and discovered the whole cardigan worn backwards vibe. We used to rock this back in the day, but it's a fun way to take a boring old cardigan and make it cool. I'd go for a black one worn backwards (maybe with some gold buttons) with boyfriend jeans and ballet flats. It's a French vibe and fabulous with a red lip and big sunglasses. Effortless and sexy. You can find your classic v neck cardigan just about everywhere. The reference photos above are from an amazing movie- Paris, Texas directed by Wim Wenders with a young and seriously hot Nastassja Kinski. Amazing. Oh and keep the hair messy. It helps the sexy, I care not a thing vibe.

A statement shoe- Most of us girls have never been a good shoe we didn't like. My problem is, I like many of them. My absolute favorites? Of course, Gucci. I adore the Princetown Mule loafer especially (I have a pair and have not taken them off since I got them) and the classic one is great but so are the more ornamental versions.

And for me, this Chloe bootie with the foldover thing is so, so hot. I tried them on a bit ago and they are HAWT. With skinny jeans and a blazer you are very much in business, my friend. Though I love the white, the black are amazing and have also seen them in rust.  If you do one thing this season, do a great shoe. It will help boost all your basics and give a fresh kick to your closet.

An unstructured bag- We've had seasons and seasons of structured bags a la Celine and YSL but I'm in the mood to go loose. I am loving this Rag and Bone bag and although not anywhere near cheap, it's nowhere near the gob smacking prices of those other names I mentioned. I love it in the olive for a change from the classic black bag. It's so nice in person and has the perfect amount of slouch.

A cropped pant- So I'm obsessed with the whole kick crop thing, but the proportion is generally wrong for me as I don't really have the hips of a toddler. I found these pants at Marimekko and though pricey, they are divine. I love the silhouette with a chunky knit sweater on the longish side, with the Gucci slippers. Such a good look. Love. Bonus points if you go for the fun patterned version, but if you go with basic black, I'm not gonna be mad. Incidentally, the clothes at Marimekko are amazing. Great coats and super awesome dresses as well. Coat post next week, don't worry. I got you, boo.

What's most fun about these looks is the ability to scale down price wise and find all of these key items at stores like Zara and H&M. The shoe bit is more of a challenge when it comes to that, so if you ever want to really splurge on something, a great shoe is not a terrible way to go.

So that's about it for now- please feel free to shout if you have any questions about what to wear. I'm open for business and all ears. Cause that's what's up this TGIF five spot in the 718.  Yours, in falling for Fall. XO
