DVF: I want it all.

Hi, Sunday. Had a nice dinner at home tonight with some friends and David's dad. It's been a fun weekend of seeing a great old friend of mine whose in the new blushes of full blown love and getting married soon- such a joy to see people you care about be so happy. What the world needs now...

In other news, I had a vicious allergy attack in the middle of the night last night so was up looking at pics from the shows. I saw some standouts for sure, but just now as I attempted to clean the house I was distracted by DVF's collection. Now let me say I have been somewhat dismissive of DVF for some time now- I'm not sure if I found it cliched, a bit too mainstream, and a favorite of the kind of girls I'm not a big fan of (the ones who endlessly talk about cocktails, wine, and boys). But wow. Just wow. This collection is a caravan of bohemian chic-full of the looks I live to wear in the warm months - what a transcendent collection full of loose and flowy and colorful pieces that almost all of us can wear with ease. I was wondering if a sense of the gypset would make its way into the collections- this being a time of unrest, wanderlust, and yearning for something a bit counterculture to stave off some of this conservative thinking we've seen of late. I'm a fan. A big, big fan. I adore the mermaidish turquoise, the requisite black and white prints that are fast becoming the big trend of the runways for Spring, and the black polka dot suit is everything to me. I also love all the long kaftan inspired pieces- the rust dress is a favorite as are all the dresses with pants. I'm a big fan of ethnic and boho chic and these looks take it up a notch to keep it fresh and not like an outtake from Sienna MIller's closet circa a few years ago. Genius.

Floppy hats off to Diane Von Furstenberg for knowing what women need- I love a collection where I can envision packing all of this in a suitcase and going somewhere amazing. Super beautiful, wearable, and sexy. Bravo. And that's what's up this late night Sunday edition a la Maven right here in the BK. There's a chill in the air, but there's a nice balm happening at DVF for Spring 2013. XO
