Oscar recap: Much ado about much ado...

Good morning, Monday. Happy Post Oscars. I gotta say- the show was pretty boring for the most part. I love Frances McDormand and do appreciate that diversity and inclusion and equal rights is taking center stage. This whole new "me too" model of doing business is truly fantastic- I'm not just talking about "time's up"- I'm using me to as a way to suggest we all have something to say and all have a right to say it. Well done on Hollywood for making that crystal clear. Now on to the fashion.

I'm gonna just say it- I'm so over awards season and am so happy it's over. The endless charade is tiresome isn't it? That said, i did see a couple of standout moments. Here are my top five:

For something modern: Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton

For a strong color game: Nicole Kidman in blue Armani Prive

For a powerful, carb free silhouette: Laura Dern in Calvin Klein

For all around perfection: Mary J. Blige in Versace

For nailing that nude moment: Gina Rodriguez in Zuhair Murad

Those are my favs- did also like Saorise Ronan and Jennifer Lawrence. Oh and of course, St. Vincent. Not sure what that was but it was fairly major.

Other than that, the usual suspects. I did find the set design to be far, far too opulent considering this rather stripped down epoch in which we live. I would have loved an Oscars unplugged show myself, but that would probably be unglamorous. Plus never sure why supposedly the most entertaining people in the world can't seem to entertain on Hollywood's biggest night. Snoozes galore for the most part.

As for the men, there's one clear winner in the style wars for me, and that's young Mr. Chalamet. I adore him and love how he rocked Off White to the Indie awards, and now, all white Berluti for the Oscars. He's fabulous and that's that.  Oh to be young and talented and adorable.

Cause that's what's up this post Oscars kind of Monday in the 212. Yours, in afterparties and recaps. XO
